About Us

Kehilat Shalom was established in 1971 and throughout our history we have been a center of learning, worship, and social justice for the Jewish community of Montgomery and Frederick Counties. We are fortunate to have Rabbi Charles Arian as our spiritual leader and to have Hazzan Kim Komrad lead us in song and prayer. Every day we strive to be a warm, welcoming, inclusive community where relationships thrive and “friends become family.” There is a place here for people of all different Jewish backgrounds, interfaith families, and those who choose to convert to Judaism.

Kehilat Shalom has a lot to offer our members. We have a beautiful sanctuary that creates an atmosphere of spirituality and reflection for our Shabbat and holiday services. We have an experienced, dedicated staff that cares about each and every member. We have many volunteers who give generously of their time to create the wonderful programs that are offered by the Sisterhood, Men’s Club, Events Committee, and more.

Kehilat Shalom is a place to learn and grow in your knowledge and experience of Judaism as well as a place to meet new people and become a part of a vibrant, caring community.
